Maddie James is ready to settle down in her hometown: Daybreak Island, a picturesque little island off the coast of Massachusetts. Her biggest dream is to start her own business and when the red cat JJ enters her life, she gets inspired. There are so many cats on the island that need a home: why doesn't she start a cat café? Then tragedy strikes. Maddie's grandfather, the island's former police chief, has become increasingly forgetful since his wife's passing. And now influential businessman and local bully Frank O'Malley is after his home. Maddie is determined to change O'Malley's mind, but before she has the chance, he is found dead.
